What does Materialise do?

Materialise is a social branding application. It helps your organization to connect right people with the right content. The platform enables social media managers/content experts to curate right content from sources such as RSS feeds, blog feeds, social media pages, YouTube channels, web links, etc. This content can be customized and shared to your social media ambassadors/employees who are the advocates. The ambassadors /employees can then post the content to their social media accounts. Ambassadors can be rewarded based on the engagement received for the content they shared from the platform. This enables your organization to achieve maximum reach for your content in social media.

What is Materialise Dashboard?

Dashboard provides a comprehensive view for admin to track and understand the overall user & content activities in Materialise. Dashboard provides granular level insights on content shared from Materialise and the engagements generated along with its earned media. Along with advocate sharing trends Dashboard also helps admin to see the conversions and goals generated through Materialise by advocates sharing content from Materialise to their social media channels.

What does “Shares & Engagement” in Dashboard represent?

“Shares and engagement” provides the admin with specific time based insights on the content shared by advocates through Materialise to various social media channels (Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook) and the respective engagement (Like, Shares, comments, re-shares, retweets etc.) generated. Admin can view channel wise data on Shares & Engagement over a specific time period by selecting the channels and team option associated with the respective analytic element in Dashboard.

Admin can track the Shares & Engagement over a select time period using the “From - To” calendar option.

What is Earned Media Value (EMV)? How is EMV calculated? How can the Admin track EMV in Materialise over specific time period?

Earned media value refers to the tangible value generated for your organization by the sharing of content by advocates through Materialise. Admin shall define the value of each activity like Facebook Shares, Likes, Comments; Twitter Retweets, Favorites; LinkedIn Likes and Comments; Web traffic and goals; in the “points” subpage under settings page. The earned media value shall be calculated by summing up the value generated by all advocates in your organization. Admin can track the EMV over a select time period using the “From - To” calendar option. Admin can select “from” and “to” date using the respective calendar dropdown over which the shares, Engagement & conversions and their respective matrices can be tracked.

What does conversion Analytics (& Goals) in Materialise dashboard represent? What is the pre-requisite for tracking conversion analytics in Materialise?

Conversion Analytics gives data on Total Number of Traffic generated through Materialise to your organization’s website and Total Number of Goals(Preset in Google Analytics) generated through Materialise. To get your company websites traffic information/goals, you need to have a Google analytics account for your website, which should be linked to your Materialise analytics page. You shall connect your Google Analytics by choosing Google Analytics under Settings menu. Admin can track the Conversions (& Goals) over a select time period using the “From - To” calendar option, Likewise specific goal can be selected from the “Goals” drop down.

What are rewards in Materialise?

Rewards are the Gamification element of Materialise. Rewards in Materialise can be created by clicking the “New Reward” option in the Rewards page. While creating reward, Admin should specify the start date, end date, and reward points for each Reward. The advocates can redeem the Rewards based on their Rewards points earned.

How can I Approve / Reject redemption request send by advocates?

Admin can Manage Reward Redemption request made by advocates in Redemptions tab associated with Rewards page. Admin will have the option to Accept/Reject Redemptions. Accepted Rewards shall be given to advocates offline.

How are Reward points awarded in Materialise?

The advocate can earn reward points based on their activity in Materialise which include connecting Facebook, LinkedIn & Twitter accounts to Materialise, Number of Shares; Facebook Shares, Likes, Comments; Twitter Retweets, Favorites; LinkedIn Likes and Comments, enabling daily digest email, on approval of suggested blurb, and through regular activity. For each activity, the value that is defined by admin in “Points” sub tab under “Settings” shall be awarded and the total is summed up.

What is a blurb? How can I create one?

A blurb is any content with an image, title and synopsis. All contents in the Materialise platform are displayed in the form of blurbs. You can create a blurb by using the “Add new Content (+)” option which can be either accessed in the content page or using the “Add New Content” sub option on clicking the Universal Add option (+) at the right bottom of page. Admin can compose a message or copy paste a URL and attaching image. As part of Blurb creation Admin has to select a content source and category from the respective options available in the Create Blurb page before saving the blurb. The new content created appears as a new blurb under "New" tab in the curate page.

How can I approve content in Materialise so that my advocate can see and share to their social media channels?

All the raw blurbs created by Create Blurb option and those fetched from the feeds are displayed under new tab. This content is curated by admin manager and sent for approval. The blurb then gets moved under pending tab. The admin head can approve or reject the blurbs under the pending tab. Approved content is moved under approved tab and rejected content is moved under rejected tab. alternately the admin can directly approve any content under new tab.

How can I Approve / Reject redemption request send by advocates?

Admin can Manage Reward Redemption request made by advocates in Redemptions tab associated with Rewards page. Admin will have the option to Accept/Reject Redemptions. Accepted Rewards shall be given to advocates offline.

What is new content?

The raw content from the RSS/blog feeds/web links that are added under a category is displayed under “New” tab in the form of blurbs in the curate blurbs page. You can edit the title and synopsis of all blurbs under the "New" tab.

How can I customize the title and description of each blurb?

As an admin, you can edit the Title & Description of each blurb by clicking on the respective item or by using the edit option available by clicking the settings icon associate with each blurb. Once you edit the text in the title and synopsis, you cannot revert back to the default text.

How can I perform the approval/submit for approval actions for blurbs under New/Pending tab?

All the blurbs that are suggested by the Admin manger and the advocates will be listed in the pending tab. If you are an admin head who is in the approver role, you can select the teams to which a blurb should be shared to and then directly approve it by clicking on the approve icon. The approved blurb is then moved under the approved tab. If you are an admin manager who is NOT in the approver role, you can select the teams to which a blurb should be shared and send it for approval by clicking on the send for approval icon.

What is pending tab? Can I edit blurbs in the pending tab?

The blurbs that are sent for approval by the admin manager and by the advocates which are yet to be approved by the admin head will be displayed under the pending tab. If you are an admin head who is in the approver role, you can select the teams to which a blurb should be shared to and then directly approve it by clicking on the approve icon.

How is a blurb rejected?

The admin head can reject the content under the pending tab after clicking on the reject button and entering the reason for rejection.

What is rejected content?

The blurbs that are rejected by the admin head are displayed under the rejected tab. An admin head/admin manager can click on the comment button to view the reason for rejection.

Can I edit the rejected blurb?

The rejected blurbs are editable for admin head and admin manager. The teams assigned to the blurbs can also be changed by the admin head/ admin manager.

Can the rejected blurbs be approved /submitted for approval?

The admin head can directly approve the rejected blurb.The admin manager can resubmit the rejected blurb for approval. The blurb gets moved under pending tab when it submitted again for approval.

What are approved blurbs?

The blurbs that are approved by the admin head is displayed under approved content tab. The approved blurbs cannot be edited by admin head/admin manager.

How can I post / schedule approved blurbs to company social accounts?

The approved blurbs can be directly posted to Facebook/LinkedIn pages connected or to twitter accounts connected, by admin head/admin manager. Clicking on the Facebook/LinkedIn button will open a pop up which displays the connected pages. The admin head/admin manager can select the pages to which the blurb has to be posted, enter a message and then post the blurb immediately, or schedule it for posting at a later time the same day by selecting a time from the dropdown.

How can I create new content categories in Materialise?

You can create a new content category in Materialise by using the “New category(+)” option which can be viewed in the content Sources page by clicking the filter option on the right side or using the “Add New Content” sub option available on clicking the Universal Add option (…) at the right bottom of page. Enter the name of the category in the pop up that appears and click on create.

How can I rename/delete Content categories in Materialise?

All the categories created in Materialise can be viewed by clicking the + New option which can be viewed in the content Sources page by clicking the filter option on the right side. You can rename/delete a content category by clicking on the edit button against the category. You can delete a category by clicking on the delete button against it.

How can I Add new content sources to Materialise?

You can add new contents using the (+) new Source button in the Content sources page or by using the “Add Content source” sub option on clicking the Universal Add option (…) at the right bottom of page. Clicking on the Add new feed button shall open a pop up where you can select the content source type, select type of source (internal/external), and select the category under which the content should appear. Admin can create content sources which can be RSS blog, YouTube channel, Twitter stream, Twitter timeline, Facebook page or LinkedIn Company page. Admin also has the option to enter up to 5 keywords with which specific content pieces having the keywords will be filtered and fetched to Materialise. Admin also has the option to enable Auto approve for that particular content source so that all the content fetched from that particular source will get approved automatically.

What all type of content sources can be added to Materialise?

Generally content in Materialise can be classified as Company content and External content. Company feed is one which belongs to your organization or product that you want to distinguish from other content feeds. Also all feeds that are from external content sources will be classified as External. Admin can create content sources which can be RSS blog, YouTube channel, Twitter stream, Twitter timeline, Facebook page or LinkedIn Company page.

What is curation of content?

Content page consists of all the content aggregated from various sources (Company & External) in the platform. Curation in Materialise platform involves identifying the relevant content from among the content aggregated, personalizing them and then ultimately sharing them to advocates.

How can I block/Delete content sources?

You can disable/Delete content coming in from the feeds under any category by block/delete option available on clicking the settings (:) option associated with each content source. Disabling a feed shall stop new content from that feed coming into the platform. Also the content from the feed that is disabled, that is already present shall be removed from the platform until you enable it again. But the actions done on that content shall not be lost (e.g. sharing to social media, editing title/synopsis, etc.). Once you enable the content source again, all content that was there in the platform shall be restored, as it was before disabling the feed. Also new content from the feed shall be displayed in the platform.

As an Admin head, how can I invite users into Materialise?

Admin in Materialise can invite advocates via email or twitter using the "Invite Advocate" option which can be accessed by using the “New User(+)” option which can be viewed in the “Users” page or using the “Invite User” sub option available on clicking the Universal Add option (…) at the right bottom of page. Admin can invite advocates using two methods. . Invite by Email – Selecting invite via email from “Invite New user” shall open the page from which you can send invites to new advocates.In 'Invite advocates by email' page, either enter directly the email ID’s of new advocates who needs to be invited in the textbox provided, or upload the list of emails to which invite needs to be sent from a .csv file or import the contact from Google option. Then select the role of the advocate from the "Select Role" dropdown (Admin head, Admin manager, Advocate). Select an already existing team from the "Select Team" dropdown. Click on the Send Invites button to send invites to all the email ID's entered.

Invite by twitter – Selecting invite by twitter from "Invite more advocates" shall open the page from which you can send invite tweets on twitter from your company twitter account connected.Note: Invite by twitter works only if you have connected at least one company twitter account. To invite advocates/influencers from twitter, enter either the Twitter profile name or any relevant keyword (e.g. Microsoft). The details of the twitter influencer such as number of followers, screen name, number of tweets in which the keyword was mentioned, the overall sentiment of the advocate to the keyword will be displayed. You can tweet an invite to any of the influencers that are displayed. The influencer will be able to click on the invite link and open the registration page in which he can enter the details and create the account.

What are the various user roles in Materialise ? What all privilege does each user have in Materialise?

The advocate hierarchy in the platform is as follows Admin head – The role of the admin head is that of a super advocate. Hence the admin head has all the privileges of Admin manager and the advocate. The additional privilege that the admin head has is the power to approve any unapproved content in the platform. You can rename this role to suit the designations used in your organization (e.g. Marketing Head) Admin Manager – The admin manager comes under the admin head in the hierarchy. The admin manager has all the privileges of the admin head except the power to approve content. You can rename this role to suit the designations used in your organization (e.g. Social Media Manager) Advocates – The advocates are the end consumers of the content that is curated and shared. They can edit the content and share to their social audience. You can rename this role to suit the designations used in your organization (e.g. Ambassador, Employee Ambassador, etc.)

How can I connect/Disconnect Company social media accounts to Materialise?

Admin can connect your company social media pages or accounts in the “Social media” page which can be accessed in the Settings. Depending on the social media (Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter) which needs to be connected, Admin can click and connect. On clicking, admin will be taken to respective social media connection page where, login credentials can be inputted. Admin on successfully authenticating will be taken back to social media page, where all the pages associated with that social media (Facebook, & LinkedIn only) will be displayed for the admin to choose from. Admin can selectively enable among the listed pages.

Note: The application considers only the pages associated with Facebook/LinkedIn for posting for admin manager/ admin head. So if no pages are associated with your Facebook/LinkedIn account, either create a page before connecting the account or avoid connecting that account. New pages created for an already connected Facebook/LinkedIn page will not be fetched automatically by the application. You will have to disconnect the respective Facebook/LinkedIn account and reconnect it again to see the new page created for an already connected Facebook/LinkedIn account. Disconnect option for pages and accounts will be displayed once the accounts are connected.

How can I connect my company Google Analytics account to Materialise so that I will be able to track the conversions and web traffic generated by Advocates by sharing through Materialise?

As an admin in Materialise you can connect your company Google account to Materialise from the platform page under “Settings”. Admin on clicking the Google Analytics option will be taken to the Google authentication page where credentials can be inputted to sign in. On signing in all the profiles (Websites) associated with that account will be listed for admin to select from. Selecting will connect that profile to Materialise.

How can I custom configure the UTM parameters in Materialise so that I will be able to track the web traffic generated and conversions happened due to sharing of blurbs by advocates to their respective social media accounts ?

On successful connection of Google Analytics account to Materialise, option to Input UTM parameters will be available. Admin will have the option to input UTM Name and UTM Medium respectfully and save it so that all the goals & conversions generated will be tracked.

How can I setup the custom email option in Materialise so that I will be able to send all notification and updates including daily digest mail?

As an admin in Materialise, you can configure your custom email server to Materialise from the platform page under “Settings”. Admin has to enter the SMTP Server, SMTP username, SMTP Password & Port address to configure the email configuration.
